The Role:
The SCW EOC academic advisor/recruiter provides educational outreach services to traditionally under-represented adults, promoting educational access and post-secondary educational involvement.
This position provides individual and group counseling on admissions, financial aid, academic, and related issues.
This position will represent the Central Washington University (CWU) South Central Educational Opportunity Center (SCW EOC).
Position will have frequent contact with incoming clients and address questions regarding program services.
Position will also have contact with area high schools within target communities.
Presentations, informational booths, and financial aid workshops will be given at various agencies within target communities established by EOC grant proposal guidelines.

Job DutiesRecruitment- Ensure project participants have completed a CWU-EOC participant intake and information release form- Disseminate college admissions and financial aid information at informational booths, college fairs, and job fairs within established target communities and select high schools- Prepare and give presentations regarding the EOC to public schools and non-profit organizations- Interact with human service agencies, educational institutions, and educational programs to coordinate services and promote access to post-secondary education- Establish and maintain contact with educational institutions to which project participants have applied/enrolled- Assist supervisor with enrollment statistics to complete Annual Performance Report (APR) required by the US Department of Education- Submit monthly reports to supervisor listing demographic and other relevant information of current participants- Input participant information in Blumen database to track current and past participant informationAdvising and Program Support - Facilitate participant intake process - Counsel program participants on admissions, financial aid, academic and related issues associated with HSE enrollment or post-secondary education- Verify eligibility of project participants according to SCW EOC grant guidelines and admit applicants into the program as appropriate based on availability and need- Conduct admissions and financial aid workshops at agencies and community partners within target communities - Assist individuals with completing admissions and financial aid applications- Attend, and participate in, staff meetings- Perform other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree Bilingual (English/Spanish:
reading, writing, speaking) Experience giving oral presentations to small and large groups in both English and Spanish Knowledge of the unique needs of low-income, first-generation populations Strong interpersonal and networking skills Demonstrated willingness and/or experience working with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and experiences OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the positionPreferred Qualifications Experience with federally-funded TRIO programs Familiarity with educational offerings of state agencies and non-profit agencies of the Central Washington area Experience in higher education Demonstrated participation in programs designed to promote inclusion Life experiences that demonstrate an ability to contribute to CWU's commitment to inclusion and diversityCompetencies Accountability/Dependability:

Work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions.
It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer workstation for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records.
Some evening or weekend work and/or occasional travel may be required.
