This individual will work closely with the Finance Director to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll and assist in various accounting tasks.
The ideal candidate is organized, meticulous, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.
Essential Job Functions Assist in preparing and processing bi-weekly or monthly payroll for employees.
Verify time and attendance records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and labor laws.
Process deductions, bonuses, and commissions accurately.
Respond to employee inquiries and address payroll-related issues in a timely manner.
Maintain payroll records, tax documents, and employee payroll information.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll and tax regulations.
Prepare and submit various payroll and financial reports as required.
Process state & federal payments in a timely manner.
Support month-end and year-end closing procedures.
Request payments to Accounts Payable as necessary.
Assist in posting and reconciling daily cash functions.
Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements.
Other Duties Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documents.
Assist with other ad-hoc administrative and finance-related tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements Experience 2-3 years of experience in payroll processing and basic accounting functions.
Education may be substituted for experience.
Skills and Abilities / Lifting Requirements (Maximum weight required) Proficiency in using accounting software and Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and employee information Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations or the ability to become proficient.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independent.
Minimum Education, certifications or licenses High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or relevant certification in accounting or finance preferred.
Contact with Others Collaborate with various internal departments and employees to collect and verify payroll data.
Provide assistance and support to employees regarding payroll-related inquiries.
Supervision Received Work independently with some assistance from the Controller, as needed, to resolve complex payroll or accounting issues and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations Supervision of others N/A Pressure of Work Work under tight deadlines, especially during payroll processing periods, to ensure timely and accurate payroll disbursement.
Manage workload efficiently to meet strict reporting and compliance deadlines.
