We have over 100 varieties each with unique needs for germination, planting and harvesting.
-Commitment to working with low till, deep mulch organic systems.
-Must enjoy - weeding, irrigation repair and maintenance, planting in the rain, and harvesting at daybreak on hot days.
-Fastidious with details -Gentle with equipment -Patient with delicate, tangled and sometime sticky flowers -No history of allergies -Strong and flexible body able to lift 50# comfortably -Trained in ergonomic lifting with the breath -Comfortable around dogs, pigs, goats, ducks and chickens -Respectful and kind with elders and children -Committed to helping the Petals for Patients Program develop into a valued resource for the Yakima Community -Flexible with schedule - willingness to alter schedule around weather events and harvest needs -Reliability and follow through -Consistency -Experience with Google sheets, calendar, email and texting -A learner - willing to take zoom classes or research needed information on germination or growing needs of a particular variety.

-Ability to minimize distractions and maintain a steady work flow.
Duties:
-Keep detailed seeding, planting and harvest records -Create succession planting plans -Prepare seed and bulb orders -Maximize land space and yield -Seeding specific to variety needs -Planting specific to variety needs -IRRIGATION - schedules, monitoring and repair -Weeding -Foliar Feeding -Harvesting specific to variety needs -Termination and tilling (tilther and BCS tractor) -Spreading compost -Update Google Sheets with planting and yield information -Be a strategic participant in growing the Petals Project into a financially and environmentally sustainable entity -Contact more experienced growers or horticulturalists as needed to solve pest or nutrient deficiency issues -Participation in outreach events on and off the farm -Regulation of temperature and humidity in the germ room, greenhouse, cold frames and hoop houses -Manage frost Protection systems -Minimize waste and maximize yield -Love of farming -Opportunity to help with floral design if desired Helpful:
-Understanding of team dynamics -Floricultural experience -Experience using pivot tables -Experience and understanding of Lean Farming (Ben Hartman's work) -Experience with Korean regenerative soil amendments Pay:
Minimal.
