Budget Technician

Develops documents and assists in justifying annual and multi-year budget estimates of appropriated and reserved works funding. Assists in the preparation of reports for quarterly program accomplishment reviews. Enters data and updates as necessary in the budget database for recording, tracking, and reporting all funded activities. Reviews federal financial system printouts, program and budget system reports, and other documents to ensure that obligations, cost accounting, and other financial data are accurate. Assists with the preparation of monthly fund utilization reports, and submit them for review and approval. Serves as the Collection Officer for the receipt and remittance of miscellaneous revenues received in the office. In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that the applicant meets the specialized experience requirement - this information must be included in the resume. To qualify at the GS-05 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 in Federal service. Specialized experience at this level is defined as learning to assist with gathering, extracting, reviewing and consolidating information and statistical data needed in the formulation of budget requests; learning to compare actual obligations and expenditures to scheduled obligations and expenditures; learning to prepare budget estimates and review of justifications for the budget program; learning to assist budget staff in preparing for budget information meetings; and/or obtaining reports from various budget information systems for use by higher graded employees; OR 4 years above high school; OR a combination of post-high school education and specialized experience that together meet the qualification requirements for this position.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Applicants will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If selected, the selectee will be required to provide official college transcripts to verify educational qualifications. An official transcript bears the University Seal and a signature certifying its authenticity and must be provided from the institution awarding the degree. Academic transcripts certified by notary publics are NOT official. Official transcripts must be submitted prior to reporting to work as a condition of employment. Failure to submit official transcripts may be grounds for dismissal or rescission of the job offer.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
