Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):
Ability to do the work of an Engineering Equipment Operator without more than normal supervision.Have the ability to perform common Engineering Equipment Operator tasks. I can operating a variety of heavy equipment such as brush cutter, grader and bulldozer. I can operate this equipment to clear brush and grade roads; to push, pull, pile and load earth, sand and gravel; clear brush; back fill; plow snow; dig trenches; and move or contain flammable or hazardous materials; perform operator level preventive maintenance on assigned equipment. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles)Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation)Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle)Operation of Motor VehiclesReliability and Dependability as a Engineering Equipment OperatorWork Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) A heavy physical effort is used through constant bending, reaching, turning, and moving of hands, arms, feet, and legs to handle different sets of controls. A considerable strain is caused by constant vibration and jerking and jolting from operations over rough surfaces.Frequently required to work in awkward or strained positions. Must meet the minimum requirements for a light work capacity test which consists of a 1-mile walk completed within 16 minutes. The incumbent works in all types of weather (hot, dry, cold, wet, windy) often in open driver's seat or platform on hills, slopes, grades, and rolling surfaces. Exposed to possible cuts, bruises, scrapes, sprains, when operating and handling equipment, and injury due to possible overturning of equipment. Subject to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, and fumes.
